For those interested. New song, old band. Not car related.

Cardinals by The Wonder Years

This band helped pull me up from an extremely dark place after my Dad died in 2009. I was 15 and had no clue how to deal with the things going on in my head and my cousin introduced me to pop-punk, my tastes have changed some since then but The Wonder Years will always be my favorite. Great dudes that I have had the pleasure of seeing a few times and probably some of the hardest working artists who appreciate everyone and everything. Check out their back catalog, I can make some recommendations for those interested.

tl;dr

Good jams, good band. Enjoy.

Wow, I’ve never heard of these guys, but this song really resonates with a particular part of my life. A really close friend had been through an unimaginable (to my 13 year old self) loss, and we drifted apart so fast that I don’t think either of us even realized it at the time. Friendships come and go so quickly at that age. He was caught up, absolutely drowned in fact, in loss. Meanwhile I was scared of even talking about what had happened to his family, to him really, and just incapable at that age of processing the facts of life and death. We’re close now again, and at double the age, I value my friendships more than ever.

Here’s a song that always reminds me of the pain and instability of the loss of childhood innocence:
